So Many Fond Memories

Mrs. A. is part of so many fond memories that I have from childhood.  She was very influential to me and I learned many lessons from her which I remember to this day.  I like to refer to them as my Gem-isms!  While spending a summer with her in Jamaica I learned one lesson in particular which I carry with me to this day.  While being drawn in to verbal banter with a neighbour over events happening, she stopped her neighbour with one line. "You are a linguistic cripple and I will not be subjected to your low brow conversation!"  It was one of the first times that I realized you can stop someone in their tracks with strong words and tone while speaking in the most educated of ways.  The neighbour had no response and I was inspired to hone such skills of debate.  While Mrs. A. will be dearly missed, she will be far more remembered.
