Violet Margaret Franks, (Berge/Goodbarne)

With deep sorrow, The Goodbarne family children announce the passing of their dear mother, Violet on Friday, Sept 14, 2018. She was the beloved wife of their father, the late Alan Squire Goodbarne (1965). Violet was the loving mother of Deanna, Wayne and Judy, and mother-in-law to Bob, Diane and the late Durham. She will be greatly missed by her four grandchildren; Bob, DeaDea, Alan, Amber and 7 great- grandchildren; Devon, Brooke, Holly, Kyle, Tres, Ransom and Parker. Violet is survived by two sisters, Shirley and Glenda, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Olaf and Gerta Berge, six siblings, several nephews, a niece and her second husband, Ed Franks. Vi and Al moved to Al's hometown of Fonthill in 1945. She enjoyed participating in sports including figure skating, alley, carpet and lawn bowling. She served as the membership chairperson of the Welland lawn bowling club for many years. The family sincerely appreciated the compassionate and loving care Violet received from the staff of Northland Point Retirement Home during the four years she resided there. Family and friends will be received at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Tuesday, September 18, from 6-8 pm. The funeral service to honour Vi's life will be held at the HOLY TRINITY ANGLICAN CHURCH, 1557 Pelham Street North, Fonthill on Wednesday September 19, at 11:00 am., with the Reverend John Cathcart officiating. Friends will also be received at the church before the service from 10-10:45 am. Interment to follow at Fonthill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
