It is with great sadness that her family announces her peaceful passing at the United Mennonite Home (UMH) in Vineland, Ontario, in her 99th year. Alma was predeceased by her first husband, Heinz Bartmeyer (1945) and her second husband, John Demkowitz (2009). Predeceased by her parents and two sisters. Loving and devoted mother of Heidemarie (Wolfgang) Kaiser of Germany, Victor (Mercedes) Demkowitz of St. Catharines, and Michael (Mary-Theresa) Power of Fonthill. Alma was cherished by her grandchildren Oliver, Detlef, Alexandra, Matthew and Patrick. The family wishes to extend our gratitude to Dr. Woodland, the UMH Staff, Chaplain Dave Gifford, and Father Phillip English for their outstanding care and compassion over the last 13 years of Alma’s life. Family and friends will be received at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Tuesday February 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, with the Rosary being said at 3:00 pm The Funeral Mass to honour Alma will be held at St. Alexander Catholic Church, 50 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Fonthill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to St. Alexander Church Building Fund.
